One Way Links – Now That’s “SEO”

by Ali @ iBlogPlanet on October 17, 2009

This is likely not new to the majority of my readers, as they are webmasters themselves. Nonetheless, hopefully this is new to someone, and helps them out as much as it has helped me.

Alright, so what is a one way link? A one way link is basically a link that takes a user from Site A, to Site B (Site B is your site). One way links are natural (unless you’ve bought a link on someones page), and are often an indicator that whoever has shared your link found it useful, interesting, and what not. Reciprocal links, on the contrary, are not exactly “natural”. You are basically putting Person A’s link on your website, and in return, Person A is putting your link on their site. Although this is a common practice, more and more people are finding it to hurt them SEO-wise. Shortly put, one way links can help you a lot more from a SEO perspective.
There are two methods which are most commonly used to get one way links. Not only will they benefit your websites SEO, but they will bring you some nice traffic as well.

1) Article Writing

I can say with confidence that article writing is extremely effective, and it continues to benefit my niche websites. I now have 100′s of one way links, simply from article writing. Now, obviously, some article directories do not allow links in their articles. Do a quick search on Google, and you should be able to find the most popular article directories. Now, obviously you need articles to submit before you consider submitting them. I haven’t wrote all the articles that I’ve submitted, and in fact, I outsourced most of them. You might find it useful to do the same thing. Once you have the articles, start submitting! Try to spread out your submissions, or else the moderators of the directories may sense something.

2) Submit To Directories

Okay okay, before I get bashed for this, let me explain. I do not mean submit to 10000 “crappy” directories in a day. Even though people say directory submission does not help much anymore, I disagree. If you submit your links to the right directories, and at a good pace, it will help your site. I continue to submit my niche sites to directories, and have found doing so to be quite effective. As I said though; be careful not to submit to too many directories in a short period of time. Search engines watch for that!

Let me be honest — these two tasks (article writing/submission and directory submission) can be VERY tedious and boring. If you think that you don’t have enough time for this, look into hiring someone (or a team) to do the work for you.

I agree

These can be very good ways to get some good links. I also think that directory submission is still a good way, although lots of people say it useless.

I agree! Article marketing can be very effective. I do recommend using article distribution sites though, it makes things easier and they can submit to many of the high profile directories for you with a single click of your mouse.

The problem with directories is that it can take you a long time to get approved. Every once in awhile, your issue is that you can’t categorize your own blog or website, so you’re never sure where they’re putting you.

I’m sustaining a bit of trouble reading the conclusion of the article. The last paragraph gets interrupted halfway through. You should have a look at that. However, the rest of the read was extraordinary!
