For everyone who has been following Michael Jackson, and the tributes surrounding his death, you probably saw the memorial in Los Angeles a couple days back. If so, you probably also saw Paris Jackson (Michael’s daughter) give a very sad speech. It was short, but it was sad, and touched the hearts of many.
Now, ever since she gave this speech, a huge ordeal has arose on the news; should Paris have given this speech? Was she forced? Was she exploited?
To whichever news broadcasts that are such a thing, I only have one thing to say — you’re outright stupid. This younger, 11 year old girl, has just lost her father. Going up there was her good-bye to Michael Jackson. After all, he is gone, and that is not something that is easy for a young girl like her to deal with. If the news had any sense, they would realize that this probably an attempt for her to deal with her fathers death. She insisted on giving a speech, and now that she did, the media is bashing others, saying that they exploited Paris.
I also feel that in spite of such an amazing pop star passing away, a topic like this should be avoided. The man has passed away, and should be able to rest in peace. We should not have the news questioning whether his daughters tribute to him in front of millions of people was forced or not. When will people get some sense? Sorry, I do not mean to generalize by saying “people”, but you get the point. These people are disgracing Jackson’s name. Paris Jackson gave a speech — that’s the end of it. I was watching TV last night, and within 30 minutes on the news, they said this one line, or similar to it, some ten to twenty times:
“Was Michael’s daughter, Paris, exploited at his memorial?”
Now, who in their right mind would think this. Is it against the law for a minor to pay tribute to a deceased guardian? Not the last time I checked. I think what Paris Jackson did was brave, and she was clearly not forced, or exploited as a result. The media needs to lay off. They keep comparing her to the other siblings — why didn’t they speak also then. Well maybe they were shy. People have different personalities, and obviously Paris has one that is much more outgoing, and willing to speak her mind — and kudos to her, she has a lot courage.
Please share your thoughts on this. I feel like I’m the only one who is absolutely getting sick of hearing the media bash on this matter!

Paris Jackson’s speech at her Father’s memorial -What is all the fuss. I personal found it to be quite touching and in no way a rehearsed speech. I felt Miss Jackson’s speech about her father only proved Michael was a truly loving person who did not harm children.
Charlene,
I completely agree. I asked my self the same question when I first heard it on TV; what is all the fuss? Her speech, as cheesy as it may sound, was cute. As for her speech proving that her father was a truly loving person, you’re bang on. Paris Jackson knew her father better than many people and media members, who pictured Michael Jackson as a bad person (prior to his death).
Agree with charlene, what paris said is all from her heart. Not forced, not exploited. I believe it. Just see paris eyes when said it…It’s so touching and i belive it’s all comes out from the heart, pure..
Akira,
I could not agree with you more. I think it is stupid that the media is making such assumptions. She really did love her father, and she meant what she said.
