Yeah, yeah – no one is perfect, right? Well, of course not, but I think you get the point of the post. Let’s get to it!
Many people consider becoming an entrepreneur, but do they really have what it takes to be a “perfect” entrepreneur? Below are the traits that I feel make a perfect (or if not perfect, close to it) entrepreneur.
1. Manager – The ability to understand and manage the finances related to running a business.
2. Dare Devil – Realize that they must take risks in order to make a profit. They should not be scared to task risks.
3. Organized – Must be organized in order to manage long term and/or short term growth of their business
4. Friendly – Should like to talk to people. The majority of the most successful entrepreneurs enjoy talking to others. This also ties into their businesses customer service.
5. Marketing Guru – Maybe guru is pushing it. But they should have a fair bit of knowledge in marketing their business.
6. Do It Person – They do not sit around and wait for someone else to do things. If it needs to be done, they will do it.
7. Expert – They must be an expert in the area their business is related to. Thus, they will have no trouble explaining their business in detail.
8. Initiator – Willingness to take command for projects, and all steps required to proceed further.
Finding an entrepreneur that meets all of the above traits is very, very difficult. Now, no worries – there is a solution to running your business. Obviously this is nothing new, but maybe it will be new to some people. Sometimes the best ideas are overlooked. Your best bet to have all the traits above in your business models is to put together the perfect team. Yeah, perfect! Look for individuals who specialize in one or two of these areas. This way, you can make sure all of the traits are present in your business. There is nothing wrong with admitting that you are weak in certain areas, and teaming up with others to compensate for your lack of. That is what business is all about – team work! I guess this sort of ties into creativity as an entrepreneur, right?
Feel free to have a look at a post I made a few days ago about entrepreneurs, titled “Be More Than An Entrepreneur – Be A Creative One”.

I have been in business for over thirty years and a lot of what you said in your post makes perfect sense, but not in all business models.
Sire,
What business models would this not be true for? I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just curious. I believe you — you seem like a businessman
Well the dare devil doesn’t apply to what I’m doing at the moment, that is selling milk wholesale to customers. Also marketing doesn’t relate to us, although it does relate to the company who supplies the product.
Dang! Got me there Sire
Not my intention at all. Just trying to show there are many business models and they all have subtle differences as well as many similarities.
I understand. Thanks Sire
Do It Person – is the one that I have to agree with the most. If you do not step up and do the actual job, but wait around and tell other people to do it, which may or may not get done, then you are not anywhere colse to being a perfect enterpreneur. Unless you are willing to do it yourself and do it now, no one will listen to you. If you are “do it person” then people who work for you are more likely to listen to you and look at you as a good example.
I’m with you Jason! As an entrepreneur, you can’t sit around and wait for others to do things. You need to jump on things and get it done, without being told. You need to be able to motivate yourself.
Dictator – the ability to take control and appoint responsibility
Creative – ability to come up with unique and original ideas
Focused – ability to manage more the one issue at a time
Thinks out side the box – ability to look at any given situation from different perspectives
Dependent – consistent shows reliability and dedication to the tasks at hand
I love your list and thought some of these would benefit to it.
What do you think?
Great additions to the list Brian. I guess it just goes to show that there is no set in stone formula to being a perfect entrepreneur. The sky is the limit.
Simplified list for everyone to comprehend & the serious would be entrepreneurs to learn few applicable concepts. However, I believe few more additions like communication skills, few aspects of individual growth are singificant as well.
Yeah, thanks for the additions Chris! I guess I should have gone into a bit more detail on this post. I’ll have some more entrepreneur related posts coming up soon though!
