I’m active on a number of popular internet marketing forums that focus on making money online, SEO, and the whole nine yards. Every week, I see hundreds of new members join, only to see them posting a thread along the lines of “What am I doing wrong, I’m not making any money!” within a week of joining. Now, I usually see other forum members bash these people for being impatient, but I take a different approach. When I first started internet marketing, I wasn’t making money online for a long time, and I KNOW just how those beginners feel. It is frustrating, at the least.
In my previous post, I wrote about how I made just over $14,000 in a single month from the CPA network CPAlead. Honestly, when I first started internet marketing back around 2006, when I was 14 or so, I never ever imagined I would ever make that amount of money. Well, that’s not true. In the first week of starting, I thought I had found a get rich quick scheme, which I was wrong about; internet marketing is by no means a get rich quick scheme. Now, marketers may try to fool you into thinking it is, so they can sell their products. But let’s be real; if it was so easy to make money online, I think millions of people would have quite their day job and entered the world of internet marketing.
So, where am I going with this? I know it can be frustrating if you’ve just started. There are so many aspects of internet marketing, and at first, it can be overwhelming. But I promise, it gets easier. When I first started, I was confused; what platform should I use on my website, what are the best SEO tactics, and so forth. Once you start reading around, you will pick up so fast you won’t even believe it. Comparing what I know now about internet marketing and making online, in comparison to when I first started; well, shortly put, I was clueless back then!
I guess the best way for me to put it is like this; there are millions of dollars in the internet marketing business. But you gotta WANT it, you have to go after it, just like anything in this world. It won’t come to you. You can make money online, you can live comfortably working online, but you have to want it. I’m not here blogging to sell you a false dream and making a few bucks of you. I want to help people like I was helped by hundreds of other marketers. I want you to realize that making money online is possible, and I don’t want you to lose hope.
So, a question to my readers:
How long did it take before you started making money online? Did you ever have moments where you felt like giving up, or actually did give up? What pushed you to keep going?

Ben, which forums are you active on other than DP?
Ps. have you considered increasing the font size on your site? I use a small laptop (12″ – 1280 x 800) and the fonts are pretty small.
Hey Nima,
I’ll shoot you an email about the other forums I’m a part of.
Yeah, I’m going to change that today. Thanks for reminding me. I wear contacts and I have to get super close to the screen haha!
I’m not sure if you changed it or not. I think it can still be larger. I use font size 13, 14, or 15 on my sites depending on the font family.
Just increased the size of the font. Let me know if that looks any better Nima. I agree; it was way too hard to read before.
Hi Ben, very good advice. Internet marketing takes on many forms and pushing forward and finding what works for us takes work and can take time. The net filters out a lot of people ‘testing the waters’ or looking for fast and easy cash. Sounds harsh but it’s true. With that said there are a lot of people working hard and getting no where year after year. Those people need guidance and you are doing a fine job.
Thanks Brian! I agree. I guess those people looking for fast and easy cash just make it that much easier for us. Less competition for those of us who actually stick with it and don’t quit.
It looks much better You have a good line-height too.
Great. Btw, I received your email a few days ago. Did you receive the email I sent back? Just making sure that it went through.
Hey Ben,
That’s a very good point. Don’t we see those new internet marketers wondering why they are not making any money? They are missing the point that the real money is made only after you’ve build relationships with your potential customers, even your customers.
