Is Blogging The Way To Go For Those Wanting To Make Money Online?

A lot of people join the internet world to make money; that’s a given. I mean, sure, we have the odd few who blog for the fun of it, but as I’ve said over and over, let’s be honest with ourselves – everyone wants their “piece of the pie”. In other words, just about everyone wants to make some money for the time they put in blogging. Some bloggers put in hours a day uploading content to their blog, changing up the look, social bookmarking, building backlinks, commenting on other blogs, and the list goes on. Do they do this for the hell of it? Well, I really doubt it! Majority of bloggers are blogging, well, in order to make money online. Making money blogging can come through selling links or blog posts, promoting affiliate products, using Google Adsense, and many others. So obviously, you can make money blogging. But then comes the part where bloggers don’t just want “any” financial compensation; they want fairly decent financial compensation. This is where the big question comes in; is blogging the way to go, financially speaking?

In my opinion, no, blogging is not the way to go for those wanting to make money online. Even though there are a few top guns out there, making money online from their blogs, it’s not a method that is going to bring you big money (unless you’re one of the few top guns). Now, look at John Chow and Shoe Money; they make loads, and loads of money from their blogs. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that John Chow makes somewhere around $400,000 a year from his blog. Now, just imagine what Shoe Money makes! But aside from those two bloggers, how many other bloggers have you heard of that are making money online like them? And by that, I mean, THAT MUCH money. You might be a able to name a few others that I’m not aware of, but my point is that making money blogging is just not that easy. The problem is that it takes time, something that many, in this economy, do not have.

I know I made reference to John Chow earning $400,000 a year from his blog, and I’d like to further touch on that. Obviously, the average person definitely doesn’t need $400,000 a year to survive. In fact, the average person does not need even close to that to live well, let alone get by. My point still is that there aren’t that many people making a full income from a single blog.  So where am I getting at? If you’ve just lost your job, or you need some money pretty quickly, don’t fall for the “get rich blogging in 30 days”. There’s really no validity to such a statement. By all means, don’t fall for a “get rich affiliate marketing in 30 days” either, but do keep in mind that affiliate marketing is a much quicker way to make money online, in comparison to blogging.
