Don’t Push It With The Ads

When it comes to making money blogging, you’re obviously going to need some sort of advertisements on your site, in order to create revenue. Now, the advertisements may be off certain products, services, or just about any other type of advertisements (Google Adsense is popular).

Now, I’m a blogger; I know how important it is for fellow bloggers to be awarded for the time they spend blogging, and most of us want that reward through money (the rare few want fame). You can say you blog for fun, but let’s be honest; most of us are looking to make money blogging. Now, no matter how important it is for you to make money blogging, don’t  make the reading experience a dreadful one for your viewers. What do I mean by that? Do NOT load up your blog with ads. I read various blogs daily, and some blogs are just horrible laid out. I visit their blog only to be attacked by advertisements left and right.

Generally speaking, I’d say to have 1 or 2 ads at MOST on a page. This way, you can make money blogging, while not bombarding your readers with advertisements. On another note, your blog will look a lot more attractive. In my opinion, and I’m sure a lot of others agree with me, a blog with tons of ads is simply not appealing to the eye.

I guess it would be fair that if I’d written this post a year back, I’d be a hypocrite. My blog was loaded with advertisements (4-6 ads a page). Now that I look back, I say to myself, “I was out of my mind’. Having less ads seems to convert better as well (in my experience at least). If you look at my blog now, you’ll see that I have only ONE ad on my whole blog. Now, I will likely add a few more in the future, but definitely that will make my blog unappealing, or be annoying to my readers.

Have a look at your blog today. Put yourself in the readers shoes. How would you feel if you landed on your blog? Are there too many advertisements? Just a few questions to ask yourself!
