Article Submission And Its Effect On Your Google Page Rank

I know lots of people say “Oh, Google PR doesn’t matter at all. I never check it”, but in all honesty, I am almost sure each these people checks their Google PR from time to time. Sure, Google PR doesn’t solely determine your websites success, but it sure does help. I think anyone would prefer having a PR4 website, over a PR1 website. Common sense, right?

There are lots of ways to increase your Google PR, and one method particularly has proven to be quite effective for me. I started up a niche blog a few months back – the car insurance niche actually. The website is http://www.autoinsureusa.info. I did no promotion for this website aside from article submissions (and Yahoo Answer + nofollow forums). I submitted some 10-20 articles to different article directories, and within 2 months, I had reached a PR2. I’ve heard that gaining PR on .info websites is harder than on the typical .com. Not sure if there is any validity behind that, but if there is, it goes to prove how effective article submissions are. PR2 in only 2 months, on a .info domain!

Many SEO experts have argued over article submission and its effect. I’ve seen it personally. Some say it helps, others say it doesn’t. I’m with the optimistic side – it helps you SEO wise (and traffic-wise).

When submitting articles, it is important to not put more than two links in the Author Box (this is the general maximum allowed). HTML is usually not allowed in the body, so stay away from that, or your articles will be rejected. Follow the proper guidelines and article submissions are a great way to build top quality, one way links. What does this account to? A higher PR.

Now, there is one thing I’d like to point out. I’ve seen many webmasters make the same mistake in the past. Do NOT submit your best writing work to article submission websites. Save all that for your own website(s). I’m not saying to submit junk to the article directories. I’m simply saying that it is more important to have good content on your site, than in the article directories.

I’m going to be writing a lot of articles in the next while, in order to start building some more backlinks, and increase my PR. Starting on a new domain, I’m basically at nothing – just like when I started my first blog. Nonetheless, I’m more experienced now, and feel I can reach where I was with my first blog in a much shorter time. I’m going to try to submit 3-5 articles a day for the next couple of months. May seem like a lot for some, but I type like a maniac – not a problem for me!

Article submission could an alternative, I agree. By having the blog link on the trusted sites not only increases visibility while having some proper link juice as well. I haven’t got into the article submitting just yet, although I do consider doing so later some times. I sure hope I could write as much like you Gooroo, if only I have another 24 hours to spare. ^^ Best wishes to you!

      Ching,

Article submissions not only increase visibility, but like you said, give you some link juice. No worries if you haven’t gotten into it — I’m sure you are a busy individual. It’s never to late to start — start when you have the time.

I have lots of time, but then again, I’m only in high school. The majority of bloggers are either in university, or already graduated and working. The fact that they can run a blog on the side and update it once in a while is a big accomplishment.

      Thanks for dropping by! :)

Gooroo… nice post. As you, I am really not sure if PR ranking makes a big difference, but I would much rather have a PR 4 versus a PR2 as well :)

Good luck with all that article writing! By the way… have you made any money with your Auto Quote site? I like it’s simplicity.

      Thanks Doug :)

Yeah, exactly. Who in their right mind would take a lower PR site over a higher PR site? :P

As for the Auto Insurance Quote Site, yes, I have made a good amount of money. Remember the post I made about Neverblue about a week ago?

All of that pay check came right from that Auto Insurance Quote Site. Hope that answers your question!

Very cool. I think I am going to have to play around with something like that and see how it works.

As for you… you just need to keep duplicating the same success formula over and over again. It should be easy for someone like you who is not only a good writer… but you type fast also :)

Definitely try it out Doug. You could easily make what I made, plus more.

Yeah, that’s what I’m working at. It might take some time, but I know it will be well worth it in the end. Thankfully I’m a fast typer — or I’d be real bummed to start my blog all over! :P

Definitely Atul. PR isn’t all that important (as I said in the post) but I’d definitely take the higher PR site over the lower PR site.

Article submission is one of the best method to gain popularity by means of traffic as well as well as by an increase in ranking.

Yeah, I agree. Its proven to be true for me, and many other bloggers as well.

I’ve never tried article submission, but that is a great idea. It never hurts to put your work and your name/link in front of a different or wider audience.

Just curious, what was your old domain name that you didn’t like? I know I have purchased some “losers” over the last year too – just had to learn! :)

Definitely is a great idea Christie, but it does require a fair bit of extra time. Obviously concentrate on your blog content first, then if you have extra time, some article submission is good.

My old domain was financeadvisorystop.com — big mistake. I wish I had started with iblogplanet.com right from the start. I had well over 5000 backlinks on financeadvisorystop.com, which I lost sadly. Nonetheless, a learning experience.

If I may ask, what were some of the domains you’ve bought that you did not like? Why did you not like them?

      • August 6, 2009 at 11:31 am #

I have a lot of pets-related domains because I simply could not make up my mind which to pursue: smarterpetcare.com, petcarepedia.com, catsgeek.com, thepetcat.com – you get the picture. :)

Also last year I thought my general blog would have the word “life” in it, and since we enjoy Web 2.0 but I didn’t want it to be out of date too soon, I bought life3point0.com and life3dot0.com Now I will have to them put in GoDaddy auction or wait ’til they expire.

I can feel for your situation — same here pretty much. I kind of regret buying half of the domains I have bought. Wish I had saved the money.

I agree though, that choosing one domain for a new site is difficult.

By the way, how exactly does GoDaddy auction work?

          • August 7, 2009 at 12:38 am #

I think there are a few different ways you can handle the GoDaddy auctions. You can have your domain “featured,” and for that you pay some extra. I’m just listing one for free right now, and if anyone buys it GoDaddy gets a percentage.

Oh, I see. Thanks for that Christie, I’ll definitely check that out. I have a handful of domains I could get rid of it!

Ive never really tried article submission for any of my sites, maybe I should.

Have you checked your PR for the new domain to see if its gone up since you bought it? Or just to see if it dropped to zero, since you still have the same content you did on the old site?

      Jason,

Article submission is great. Although, I always put my sites content before article submissions.

The PR on this site hasn’t changed yet — I think Google is still in the process of updating. Hopefully they’ll update soon. :)
