I Blog.. But Why Blog?

by Ali @ iBlogPlanet on September 10, 2009

Blogging is only becoming popular by the minute – seriously. Every day I see a new blog rising up, and hey, it’s a good thing! I hope I didn’t come off as discouraging to those considering beginning blogging. That is not my intention at all, better yet, my intention is to bring more bloggers to what we call the “Blogosphere”.

We have blogs ranging from personal blogs, to topic specific blogs, to..you name it! The limits are endless with blogs, but one question is repeatedly asked by “non bloggers”. And yes, I’m not just making that up. I’ve had many of my friends ask me why I blog, and I’ve also seen many people pose the same question throughout forums. So really – why blog? Personally, I think blogging is a great tool to for internet marketers, and I’m sure everyone can agree with me on that.

Keep In Touch

Blogs can be used to keep in touch with clients and subscribers. Furthermore, the blog allows you to build more trust with those clients of yours. That trust won’t come upon starting a blog and slapping on a theme. You need to be active in the blogging world, and trust will come from your clients, or soon-to-be clients.

Feedback

With the ability to post comments, a blog is a great way to get feedback from clients and subscribers. If they aren’t happy, they’ll let you know. On the other hand, if they are happy, they will let you know. In the end, their feedback will allow you to improve yourself as an internet marketer. There is no limit to improving online.

Distribute Information

Blogging makes it so easy to distribute information. With the ability to post articles so easily, the opportunities are endless for putting information about there. This is a great way to show the consumer market that you’re the expert in that niche.

Advertising

I think I should have put this first, but here it goes. You can use your blog to advertise your niche sites! Yup, did you know that? I’m sure you did, but I just had to mention it.

To sum it up, blogging is one of the most sure ways to bring traffic to your other sites. And we all know, that traffic EQUALS money – in most cases at least! I haven’t gotten around to using my blog to advertising my niche sites yet, but possibly in the near future. Nonetheless, my blog has still helped me out with my affiliate marketing journey. So you’re an affiliate marketer without a blog? Well guess what? Get a blog, trust me!

Some use blogs to get information out and others use it to make money. You get a odd few that do it purely for the fun and to interact with others. I guess it depends on the individual them self.

I do it for fun, money and to interact with others. I guess I like them all :)

Some of us just want our opinions to be heard. I’ve seen a few blogs (inlcuding mine) where authors just want their opinions heard, and get responses from readers.

I agree with you both, George and Jason. I think I’m in the same boat as you though George — a mix of reasons for blogging.

Jason, you’re also right though. I see many blogs that are used to spread their opinion(s), which actually works great.

I agree with George. That should be first reason according to me.
If you don’t enjoy posting on your blog daily then you might make money in spite of that (though it is difficult to genoerate income without unique content) then you are working from a disadvantageous position, which wouldn’t last long.

Yup, you’re right. I’ve seen many bloggers skip the “unique content” part, and they didn’t make it far at all.

I can see that you do have unique content. However, I am keen to know one thing. How did you miss the most significant point of enjoying blogging?

I think I wasn’t exactly clear in my post then. This post was to show internet marketers/affiliate marketers why they should blog.

On a more personal level, I do blog because I enjoy it. :)

Yeah, same here — a wide variety of reasons. Blogging is actually quite relaxing. Especially when we get to rant. :D
