Ironic how my last post was titled “CommentLuv Coming To iBlogPlanet Soon!“, and now I’m making a post how CommentLuv will probably not be coming to iBlogPlanet soon. Well, I won’t leave you hanging, as you’re probably wondering why CommentLuv will not be coming to iBlogPlanet soon.
Nope, it’s not because I don’t want to give link love to my fellow readers. Of course I do, or else I would have never tried adding it in the first place! Like I said in my last post, CommentLuv was not fetching any commentators last blog post. So I sent a ticket over to the CommentLuv staff, hoping it was just a minor problem, and we would get it fixed in no time. I was wrong.

Not exactly the answer I was looking for. I was looking forward to bringing CommentLuv to everyone, and reward my blogs readers/commentators! Plus, what the $#^$ is “jquery” and “scriptaculous”? Sounds to advanced for me, haha! I’ll do a bit of asking around on different forums, and hopefully I can get it working. If anyone experienced a similar problem with CommentLuv, or simply has a solution to this, please let me know!

Don’t need to worry dude.. It’s not that required for blogs i guess.
Yeah, you’re right.
Although, I do want to reward my commentators, so I’m going to do all I can to get the plugin working!
I tried to use CommentLuv on my blogs after I saw it on Anne Wayman’s page. I never could get it to work with any of my Blogger blogs…probably my ignorance, but it wouldn’t work, so I dropped that idea. I switched one of my WordPress blogs over to CommentLuv and I like the format. The only problem was I spent a couple of days not being able to log in. I wrote a help ticket and Andy reset my password and said he would look into the problem. I haven’t even gone back to check it yet. I guess Anne has good results with it, but I haven’t so I guess I’ll stick with the pre-installed comment forms.
Congrats on having the blog of the week at Tumblemoose!
First of all, thanks for coming by Trina!
I’ve heard a lot about CommentLuv Blogs, but haven’t tried it out yet. I really like the ease of using my theme, so I don’t think I’d switch over. But hopefully the CommentLuv Support Team can come up with some sort of solution. I really want to reward my commentators.
Thanks!
it look like comment luv is not compatible with your theme . or you may choose other plugin to give some link juice for us
Yeah, I’ll have to look into that. I’ll figure something out
That’s definitely a bummer Gooroo! I know how you feel, as I have been having issues with it since I installed it. It is that dang jquery that is causing the problems my site too.
Looks like I’m not the only one after all! Are you still communicating with the CommentLuv Support Team, or are you looking at fixing it yourself?
Well, thats ok. At least you tried.
Yeah, thanks Jason. I’ll keep trying to get it working.
I guess its not working for the same reason on my theme also. But thanks for trying on behalf of those people who have problems with Comment Luv plugin.
Sorry to hear that Nehh. If I find a solution, I’ll be sure to let you know, and vice versa.
It is not compulsory to have commentluv. I never faced this problem.
Yeah, that is true. I just really want to reward my commentators. Well, at least I tried. I’ll keep trying as well.
A bit weird support according to me basically telling you to get a new theme or drop CommentLuv. I guess your next step would be to contact the creator of your theme and ask them how to load the jQuery-library with the wp_enqueue_script command.
“what the $#^$ is “jquery” and “scriptaculous””
These are libraries to make it easier for you to create javascript for your site. For an example, it makes it possible to add content without reloading the page. This is also what they are using to show the URL to your last post before submitting your post.
Stefan,
I was surprised as well. I thought they would have helped a bit more. No worries though — I realize the creator of CommentLuv is quite a busy guy.
Thanks for clearing up what jquery and scriptaculous. I’ve been pretty confused up until now.
Looks like I will contact my theme creator (even though he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth) and hopefully he’ll get back to me and help me out.
I don’t think you can expect ComemntLuv support to help out since it’s the theme that’s apparently the bigger culprit here, after all, CommentLuv *does* work on a lot of themes, right?
I’d probably contact your theme creator and ask them about it – or maybe you can even do “something” yourself or find somebody with some PHP knowledge that can edit your theme to make it work?
Otherwise, there’s always Thesis
That’s true — it is an issue with my theme. I will try to contact the theme creator, but it seems like he’s pretty much disappeared. He doesn’t respond to any of his customers questions.
I’ve considered buying Thesis in the future, but the only thing I hate about switching themes is that nested comments, are no longer nested, when changing themes. Well, I’m not sure if that’s the case with ALL themes, but that has happened every time I’ve changed themes.
Thank you! You often write very interesting articles. You improved my mood.
Thanks Peter. Glad you enjoy my articles.
It’s always seemed to work for me unless I go with a third party comment like JSkit or Disqus.
Hm — I don’t think I’m using any third party comment system. From what I was told, it’s my theme. Sucks big time.
Haha yeah it does suck, every time I try something different and it screws up my Comment Luv I instantly get pissed.
Haha! At least you got it to work though.
I’m CommentLuv-less
The “support” is actually one of the things often mentioned about thesis when bloggers are comparing thesis to one of the free themes – support for free themes are often limited and maybe even non existent
Yeah, I agree with you — free themes usually offer no support (or very little if that). Even some of the paid themes don’t come with good support. Although, I’ve heard Thesis users get fantastic support. Are you using Thesis?
Sorry to hear that, would be nice if the theme creator could help you out. CommentLuv works on most of the sites I’ve seen. You can’t ask the CommentLuv staff to help out as it’s not there issue.
I hope you come right, if not then don’t worry about it.
Yeah, I understand. It is more of a problem on the side of my theme creator. I’ll have to see if I can get in touch with him.
Hi,
Just so you know, you are not alone in the list of people dissatisfied with it & in search of alternative. Just be patient. I came across a lot of such people. I am sure some alternative can be found to suit your blog. All the best!
Thanks Chris. I am pretty disappointed it does not work, but hey, what can we do. As you said, hopefully there is an alternative!
Hey @The Goroo
Its sad to know that we not going to see comment luv here but it does not really matter.. An active commentator with great write up can fetch same no of comments even without comment luv plugin
